Concept Lookup Tool with Concept Set Builder

Web-based tool for searching OMOP vocabularies with PHOEBE recommendations and built-in concept set creation with CSV and ATLAS export.

We're excited to announce the Concept Lookup Tool - a free web-based interface for searching OMOP vocabularies, discovering PHOEBE-recommended concepts, and building concept sets for your research workflows.

No signup required - start searching immediately.

Key Features

Search across all major OMOP vocabularies including SNOMED, RxNorm, ICD-10, LOINC, and more. Results appear in real-time as you type, with detailed concept information including domain, vocabulary, and standard concept status.

Search results now include PHOEBE recommendations, marked with a star icon. These are concepts that have been identified as commonly used together in phenotype definitions based on analysis of real-world observational data.

When you see a starred concept, it means PHOEBE has identified it as frequently associated with your search term - helping you discover relevant concepts you might have missed.

Concept Set Builder

Build concept sets directly from your search results:

  • Add concepts with a single click from search results
  • Include descendants - toggle per concept to include all child concepts
  • Exclude concepts - mark concepts as exclusion criteria for your phenotype
  • Copy concept IDs - quickly copy all concept IDs to your clipboard

Export Options

Export your concept sets in two formats:

CSV Export

Download a CSV file containing:

  • concept_id
  • concept_code
  • concept_name
  • domain_id
  • vocabulary_id
  • include_descendants
  • is_excluded

ATLAS JSON Export

Export directly to OHDSI ATLAS format - import your concept set into ATLAS without manual recreation.

Use Cases

ETL Development

Quickly look up concept IDs and codes when mapping source data to the OMOP CDM. No need to set up a local vocabulary database for simple lookups.

Phenotype Development

Build concept sets iteratively:

  1. Search for your condition of interest
  2. Review PHOEBE recommendations to discover related concepts
  3. Add concepts to your set with appropriate descendant/exclusion flags
  4. Export to ATLAS for further refinement

Quick Reference
